The Milgrim Experiment.

Recently in my course we went over the Milgrim Experiment. In this experiment the participants were to ask questions to a random person in a different room and if the second person were to give the wrong answer they were shocked by the participant with shocks ranging from very slight to near fatal. Although the participant conducting the shocks could hear the screams from the adjacent room it turns out it was an actor and was not being shocked at all.

The end result was that two thirds of the participants tested willingly delivered a near fatal shock to this random person just because they were told to do so by an authority figure, or in this case a man in a white coat.

I found this extremely interesting and I hope anyone else who reads this blog will to and will research it further!

I’ve attached a funny cartoon representation of this experiment. Enjoy!
